The Full Monteverdi

After three weeks of being locked away morning, noon and night the fine edit (the “off-line” for all you pros) is just about complete. We’re very chuffed with the results so far: the performances are fabulous, the picture looks great (actually in places it’s really quite grim, but that’s the point) and the narrative structure is incredibly effective.

It’s always an interesting process to see the soul of a film emerge as you begin to be able to see past the actual edits, but this has been an especially fascinating on this project as the cross-genre we are working with is so unique. What’s now clear is that this is an ‘ensemble’ film and as viewers we are drawn in to the separate narratives at the same time as being engrossed in the overall themes of the poetry and music.

We will now be showing the film to various people to get some constructive feedback on the current edit before we ‘lock picture’ and begin the final post-production.
